For it to count you have to land the final hit that kills the enemy using these 4 abilities, for a total of 100 kills. If the hit doesn’t kill the enemy it won’t count towards the trophy. It’s best to weaken the enemies beforehand, or focus on enemies that die in one hit, or spam all abilities in quick succession to wipe out bigger groups. They are unlocked automatically from story progress (unmissable) and by buying them from Peter’s skill tree. It’s also advisable to buy the upgrades from Peter’s skill tree that improve these abilities. All abilities have a timed recharge that refills automatically over time.
It’s a great starting point that sends the city’s hero and villain dynamic into flux as he sets his sights on the biggest prey possible. I am directly reviewing this game in comparison to marvels spiderman and the miles morales game only. Everything about this game aside from web wings mechanic was a downgrade. The game should have had coop, switching between miles and peters feels pointless and unless you are doing a specific mission for them switching feels pointless. Very few side quests in the game and the few you do have are fetch quests with no impact to the story.

Suits are the key behind unique abilities in terms of both combat and traversal. The sequel is sure to introduce plenty of new Spidey suits for both Peter and Miles, though another layer of depth could be on the way. With the emergence of Miles, who becomes his student and potential successor, Peter has hope for a normal future. Miles, on the other hand, struggles to balance the life of a teenager with the heroic activities of Spider-Man and prepares for college entrance. Mary Jane has taken a job as a reporter at the Daily Bugle, where she encounters mysterious villains and, with the help of friends, overcomes them. Landscapes, views, and character models continue to be breathtaking. Lighting, shadows, and reflections have been revamped to give the game a visual polish. The number of people and vehicle traffic on the streets has increased due to a slight reduction in detail, which is unnoticeable in dynamics.

At any airborne moment, you can press the triangle button to start soaring, building even more momentum with webbing that stretches between your arms. With newly added rooftop launch points and wind tunnels across the city, flying is so in. Now, in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players alternate between both heroes with the press of a button. Peter’s trying to hold down a new teaching job at Miles’ high school, while Miles has his hands full with college applications.
The tasks are often so mundane and repetitive, however, that I did frequently question whether these small, congratulatory nuggets were worth the slog they too often turned out to be. Fight against a variety of new and iconic villains, including an original take on the monstrous Venom, the ruthless Kraven the Hunter, the volatile Lizard and many more. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC with ray reconstruction enabled, we see more detailed ray-traced reflections and better-defined ray-traced shadows, especially when viewing raytracing effects at steep angles. We also see improvements in the ray-traced interiors and less ghosting and noise in the ray-traced ambient occlusion.
Gadgets can be upgraded with special parts obtained in the city or by completing quests. The defense system has been revised, adding the ability to dodge and parry in close combat. Successfully applying these during enemy attacks can speed up the cooldown of abilities or lead to a counterattack.
Additionally, the game expanded Marvel’s New York, offering new boroughs and a variety of side missions for players to dive into and explore. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 picks up where the stories of Peter Parker and Miles Morales left off, featuring iconic villains such as Venom and Kraven, alongside many beloved returning characters. After months of anticipation, the game is finally set to debut on PC.
It was nominated for numerous end-of-year accolades, and won in six categories at the 27th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, including Action Game of the Year. The game sold over 2.5 million units in 24 hours and over five million in 11 days, becoming PlayStation’s fastest selling first-party title. It also shows more of the Venom in the symbiote form and how it affects Peter mentally with the black suit, as well as how Venom becomes his own humanoid form by latching onto one of the characters. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be exclusively released on PS5 on October 20, 2023 at midnight, local time.
You get to fully experience how fast Peter and Miles whip through the New York City skyline. Eventually, Peter and Miles team up to take Venom down, but Harry is left in a coma as the symbiote is finally destroyed. This leads to two crucial scenes that will lead into Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, as Norman Osborn blames Peter for Harry’s situation and meets up with Dr. Otto Octavius to plan how to defeat him.
It’s mashed together with an uncharacteristically large-scale invasion of New York by Kraven the Hunter (seeking worthy super-powered prey) and a tangle of other subplots and returning villains. The plot points are outlandish, the themes muddy, and Miles doesn’t really have enough to do. None of that’s necessarily a dealbreaker, though—the real problem is the characters. Wield Peter’s new symbiote abilities and Miles’ explosive bio-electric venom powers, and discover upgradeable, high-tech equipment that enhances the combat experience for extensive gameplay depth and variety. Just as it has with other PC ports, PlayStation partnered again with Nixxes Software to bring Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 over to Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Despite being awash with paramilitary criminal organisations, New York has never felt more toothless and dull. Dialogue has this odd faux-wholesome tone, like you’re trapped in a corporate training video—all careful politeness and empty one-liners. Even in emotional outbursts and tense confrontations, there’s no edge to anyone or any sense of an inner life. They’re so blandly nice it tips over into being unsettling—you keep getting that feeling like everyone’s waiting for you to leave so they can badmouth you behind your back. Where the first game starred Peter Parker, and its spin-off starred Miles, this one has both. Story missions choose for you, but often swap seamlessly between them as the action demands.
Like many of the game’s quests, the central premise transforms what you’d think superhero work typically looks like. After saving stolen artifacts for the museum, Miles remembers his departed father through his connection to jazz. “My dad really loved Charlie Parker… I guess I need to start listening closer to my playlist now,” he muses. These reflective moments deepen not only the game’s stand-out side content, but also its larger plot. This a dedicated section for the small number of suits that are specifically tied to and/or unlocked within the main story, and therefore are inherently spoilers for certain plot developments or reveals. A series of open-world action adventure games about one of Marvel’s most famous superheroes.
